South-South fellowships

Sephis funds annually a number of South-South fellows. These are mostly pre-doctoral and doctoral students who spend a year at a university in a different continent than their own. The main purpose of the fellowship programme is to help develop alternative frameworks for research and teaching as well as new theoretical paradigms that take into account the specific experiences of societies in the Global South. Sephis funds a substantial stipend, international airfare, furnished housing, tuition and other fees.

In the past years Sephis has funded South-South fellows at

  • The Center for Social Science Studies in Kolkata, India
  • The Centre for Social and Cultural Studies (CSCS) in Bangalore, India
  • The Colégio de México, in Mexico City, Mexico.

Institutes interested in hosting a fellow from another continent in the Global South can contact the Sephis Secretariat.
